JUST RELEASED!!! THEY WON'T SHUT UP BY CINDY J. SMITH

Voices in my Head
Talk all of the time
To music I feel
They add rhythm and rhyme

Emotions take flight
Grief, despair and love
Heart seeks to find hope
On wings of a dove

Their view of this world
Both nature and man
New angle embellished
To help understand

Walk for a minute
In other guys shoes
See why they might feel
So lost and confused

Dreams, flights of fancy,
Sarcasm and light pun
Work through frustrations
To friendship and fun

Open myself wide
Feel pure empathy
See how this world could
With love, truly be

Listen with your soul
To songs that I share
May see way to change
This world if you dare

Review of Hell's Gift by K.S. Haigwood

Hell's Gift
by
K.S. Haigwood

WOW! Just WOW! Hell's Gift was simply amazing! I couldn't put it down. I found myself sneaking ways to read it at work, at home, at the red light. This book is jam packed with suspense and thrills. It's a classic good vs. evil with so much in between. The detail was so was exquisite. It was easy to picture what Haigwood described. I felt like I was inside the book, sharing the experiences with each character.

Although Hell's Gift is the sequel to Save My Soul, it is easily a stand alone book. Hell's Gift is Rhyan's story, the angel who fell in love with his charge in Save My Soul. When hi charge, Kendra, chooses her soulmate Adam over Rhyan, Rhyan falls into a deep depression that even his fellow angel's can't drag him out of. So, they do the next best thing. They send him to Hell to find his own soulmate and bring her back to Heaven. But Lucifer isn't having that, so Rhyan literally makes a deal with the devil to win back the soul of his soulmate, Abigail. He must pass successfully pass through all seven sydes of Hell without giving up or Abbi's soul is lost to Lucifer for good. The detail of each of the sydes of Hell is amazing. I could close my eyes and actually see what Haigwood is describing. We also meet Joselyn, Rhyan's friend in Hell's Gift. She plays an integral role in the book and the next in this series will be her story. I'm anxious to find out how her story plays out and if it surprises me the way Rhyan's story did. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a great good vs. evil, angel vs. demon story. You will love it!

The Save My Soul series

Kendra Larkin had everything going in the right direction. Her life was seemingly perfect, and she wouldn't have changed a thing about it. Unfortunately, the course of her life was about to be forever altered. A tragic rappelling accident lands her on Dr. Adam Chamberlain's operating table. She agrees to a deal proposed by a guardian angel to help save the soul of the man who is both her doctor and soulmate. If she is successful, she gets to keep her life. However, she later learns that it isn't just her life that's in jeopardy, but her soul as well. Even with the help of her handsome guardian angel, Rhyan, it seems there is no happy ending in sight. Torn between her newly discovered love of Rhyan, and the undeniable attraction she has for Adam, Kendra finds herself at a crossroad. With Adam's steadfast rejection of God, and his guardian demon conspiring against her, she fears her soul may already be lost. Will she find a way to overcome the evil her life is suddenly burdened with? Or will Adam's guardian demon win both their souls and make Kendra his own personal puppet in Hell?

Allusive Aftershock by Susan Griscom

A review from Kelly
This is one of those rare books that I wish I could give 6 stars to. The characters are so real, the setting, even the animals that I was worried about the horses when... (Oops, no spoilers!) The author jumps from one character's viewpoint to another's, but in a clear, easy to keep track way that is perfect for a story like this. There is so much suspense, each event coming after another with just a moment to catch your breath before the next. I had to read the beginning of the book in short segments because of so many things going on in my life but it was quickly evident this book can't be read like that. I ended up staying awake half the night because I couldn't bear to put it down again. Although it is written about a trio of high school students, this book is far from juvenile. It is intense, with the death and destruction you would expect from a major earthquake. But it is without any scenes that would be inappropriate for teen readers: no graphic descriptions of death and bodies, no sex. If you only read one book this summer, make Allusive Aftershock that book.

I rate this book 5 stars * * * * *

You finished reading, now what?

What is the hardest thing to do after reading a book? Choosing your next book? Squeezing into your already overstuffed bookshelf? Remembering to return it to the library? Writing a review?

For most people, it is writing a review. But that could be the easiest. And why go through all that trouble?

Reading is largely a solitary activity. So readers depend on other readers to help them choose what to read next. Especially when selecting ebooks, when you aren’t standing in a bookstore and able to read a few pages. The number of reviews and the average number of stars can greatly affect whether or not someone buys a book. If there are 9 reviews and they are all five stars, you have to think they were written by the author’s mother, sister and best friends. But 428 reviews with an average of 4 ½ stars and you know the book is probably pretty good.

There are just five very simple steps in writing a good review. And remember, a book review is not a book report like you had to do in fourth grade. It is your opinion of the book and how it is written.

STEP ONE       What is the book about?

DO  say what it is about in very simple, basic terms, especially if it is a mixed genre book. “It is a vampire coming of age story” or “It is a mystery with a little romance.” “It is a sci-fi novel that takes place on an orbiting space colony.”

DON`T   tell the story. There is nothing worse that reading a review that spoils the book. “Romeo and Juliet is a love story but they both die in the end.” “The mystery is so well written I hardly guessed the butler is the murderer.”

   STEP TWO
      Did you like the book?

DO   be honest and specific. “The story was pretty good but the characters seemed flat and unlikable.” “The story was so engrossing I stayed up all night to finish it.”

DON’T  attack the book or the author. But don’t idolize unrealistically, either. “I can’t believe someone could actually write this @&#)!” “This author is so wonderful she could write the phone book and make it a best seller!”

STEP THREE        Would (or wouldn’t) you recommend this book?

DO  stop and think about whether or not the author wrote for the target audience. “This is a slasher spoof that hard-core horror readers might find too silly.” “There are several steamy scenes in this book that I wouldn’t want my teenage daughter reading.”

DON’T compare it to a classic unless it really holds up. “This adventure story makes the Lord Of The Rings seem like Dr. Seuss.” “This book is even more intense than Dean Koontz or Stephen King could write.”

STEP FOUR       How would you rate it?

DO honestly think about how it compares to other books. Is it the best book you have ever read, or at least in the top ten? Then give it 5 stars. Is it really good, but not one you would bring with you on a desert isle if you could only bring a handful of books? Then give it four stars. A good book that is worth reading if you like that type of thing and it was on sale? Then three stars is fine.

DON’T automatically give every book you like five stars. Give it four and reserve that fifth star for something really outstanding. And don’t give a book only one (or none) stars unless you can justify it objectively. So full of typos and misspellings it looks like a first draft? Incoherent dialog? Then say so.

     STEP FIVE        Publish your review.

Go back to the website where your bought the book and add the review. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc all have places for readers to post reviews. There is also Goodreads. You can’t purchase a book from Goodreads, but it is often the go to resource for readers to find out what people are reading and how much they like it. You can publish the same review on multiple sites. Just type it into your word processing program and copy/paste it to each site.

That’s all there is to it. Three or four sentences, a rating and publish. It usually only takes a minute or two and authors and other readers will love you for it.

Synopsis:Book three in the Whisper Cape Series.

Gerry, Addie and Cael almost captured Careen’s murderer but lost Cael in the battle. Is he alive? If so, will he return? And the bigger question, thanks to Gerry's handiwork, will Cael remember Addie? Is their love lost with him?

Addie’s family and friends think she should keep the relationship a secret. Just what she needs, more secrets and on top of everything else, someone stole the crystal. How is she supposed to get over the loss of her lover, a lover she'd barely had for only a few short months and deal with the secret of the lost crystal at the same time?

Aiden wants nothing more than to help Addie overcome her grief and get over Cael. Or is that all he wants? What happens when too many people know the secret and someone slips up?

An unedited Excerpt from A Secret Fate
For the umpteenth time, over the past two weeks, Addie recited the words over and over again in her head, begging, pleading, Cael, please remember me. Please remember you love me.

Dragging her useless, helpless, and now rail-thin of a frame from the bed—their bed, his bed—she stumbled into the bathroom, hardly recognizing the person in the mirror. The sunken, dark eyes, her indented cheekbones, only made her brown eyes look larger and more recessed, giving her face a hollow look. Well, that was fine, now her face matched her hollow and empty soul.

She couldn’t work, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat. Gerry threatened to give her job to Darcy permanently if she didn’t snap out of it and get her rear end into the bar soon. She didn’t care. Why should she? Let Darcy have the damn job. She didn’t need it. She had her trust fund, didn’t she? She couldn’t face going in there, seeing all those people, everyone asking how she was getting along … without Cael—the unspoken part of the sentence. Well, how the hell did they think she was? She just lost the man she loved. Lost her dad the year before. Who would be next? Who would she lose next? Maia? The Twins who weren’t even born yet? Unthinkable. But, as the old saying went, bad things happened in threes. Maybe if she stayed home, away from other people, nobody else would die or disappear. Her family, friends, they’d all taken turns checking in on her, Darcy one day, Maia another. Gerry, Cael’s uncle Bart even stopped by. Someone, once a day would come knocking on her door, trying to coax her out of the house. “Not ready,” she’d say. “I need time.” How much time would it take? How much time does a person normally require before they learn to cope with the loss of a loved one? Learn to cope? She didn’t want to learn to cope. Addie hadn’t had much time with Cael to begin with. She felt cheated. Resentful and cheated that she didn’t get to love and enjoy her soul mate for any longer than only a few short months. According to Maia, Cael and Addie were fated. She and Cael had joked, laughing about it being a secret fate because of Addie’s secluded and sheltered childhood. Well, fate was cruel, wasn’t it?

About Susan

Susan Griscom daydreams often. And sometimes her daydreams interfere with her daydreams not to mention real life. Because, let’s face it, her character’s lives are so much more exciting. Sometimes it’s young adult or new adult or just plain old mainstream fiction and sometimes it’s paranormal romance, where her playing field delves into a different milieu than the usual vampires and werewolves. Some day she might write about fangs and fur, but for now she prefers sticking to strong heroes and heroines confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and abilities beyond the norm, mixed with a little romance to get the blood boiling.

Susan lives in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California with her very romantic husband, her small yippy dog, Riley, and her humongous black cat, Saké. Her family consists of his and hers; four wonderful sons and one beautiful daughter, and seven grand angels.

Susan loves when a story takes hold and pulls her into the fantasy, that's magic.

Review of Puppet of the Fates

Puppet of the Fates
by

I just finished Puppet of the Fates and absolutely loved it! For being only 124 pages, this book is packed with so much detail, it's amazing. The main character, Serene, is a loveable and easily identified with character. Her lack of trust in people is something I think we all can relate to. She understandably lacks confidence and therefore doesn't see within herself what those who truly love her see, another attribute I think many people can identify with. The story is well written and the detail of The Fates is clearly accurate and well thought out. I particularly liked the way the story ended and how we are able to see how the characters play out 15 years later. I wasn't left wondering, like I have been in other stories, what happens with the characters. It has a certain finality about it that leaves the reader satisfied. As I understand it, the Strange Curses series will continue, but I don't think we'll see these particular characters again, which is fine. Puppet of Fates was well rounded and I'm looking forward to more stories in this series with new characters and different storylines. Kudos to Glass!

Review of Eternal Immortality

Eternal Immortality
by
&

I struggle with this review because I truly did enjoy this book and don't want to come off as giving a bad review because in no way was this a bad book. I just have a couple issues with the book that has me only giving this 4 stars.

Eternal Immortality picks up immediately after Eternal Island ends. Ariana and Abe have fallen in love and are to be married. Eternal Immortality begins with the reception after their wedding but the storyline is a little chaotic. Eternal Immortality isn't just about Abe and Ariana beginning their life together. It also includes

Rainey and her former lover Deus, who has returned to the island unbeknownst to Rainey. Drama ensues with everyone's love life it seems. We see Becky have a tantrum numerous times and I found myself screaming at her to "grow up!". Even Ariana's human friends from her old life that come to live on the island have relationship issues and the result leaves them changed forever. It's not that I didn't like all these mini-stories surrounding the characters, but it was too much. If all these issues everyone has was spread out throughout the series, I think it would have been better received. I felt myself agreeing with Abe when he stomps his foot and is like "No! No, no, no! This isn't happening. Are you all crazy?" There's so much chaos and everything just happens too quickly. Not to spoil anything, but many of the characters turn into vampires in the book and I just didn't care for the transformation process. It was too fast. It was like "I want to be a vampire, BAM!" they are a vampire. I wish the storyline had been more centered around Abe and Ariana. And if there wasn't enough love life issues, Abe's brother Will enters the picture, falls in love with Becky and then they have drama. And all this drama isn't even the main storyline. The island is threatened once again, and this time its Lucifer's second in command that threatens to destroy them all. Ariana, being the all-powerful witch, is the only one that can save everyone, though Rainey and Dues do their best to protect everyone as well, with tigers eye stones.

With all that being said, I really did enjoy the book. I couldn't put it down and wanted more when I finished the book. I know there will be more to come with these likeable characters and I can't wait to see what happens next. I do hope the next book is more centered around Abe and Ariana and their baby that will most likely make its debut in the next book.

This review was written by Raven herself and in no way reflects the opinions of the other reviewers of Ravenz Reviews.I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Winter Girl by Elodie Parkes has been RELEASED!!!

Lily Prescott is only just over a relationship break up when she decides to take up residence in a house left to her by her recently deceased grandmother. Her corporate law job takes a back seat as she licks her wounds in the small country town. She looks around the main shopping street and discovers people who will befriend her, but she also runs into the town’s most eligible bachelor and secret bad boy, Starr Forrester.

Loved for his lifelong association with the town, Starr hides his methods for staying single well from his friends. He’s nearly thirty, gorgeous, a designer, owns a business and on the lookout for his ‘Winter Girl’….

Will it be Lily? What is a ‘Winter girl’?

Fun, sex, romance and a little twist of the paranormal, makes this a must read.

Read an excerpt: Rated : General

As Lily passed ‘Stone Magick’ on the high street, Ash was out on a ladder checking his awning was going to pass muster for the sunnier days ahead. The sun would shine directly in and it was too harsh on the display and in the front part of the shop. He knew Lily’s car, and he saw it pass. He stared after it.
He had accepted that he was in love with Lily. He wanted to tell her, but he couldn’t. He felt feverish with the need for it to spill from his lips when he was with her, but it stayed locked in his heart. He was sure she loved him too. She hadn’t said it, but her looks and the way she had made love to him in the last few days told him so.
He climbed down the ladder and called for his friend who was in the shop putting new lights over the middle cash desk.
“Colin, get out here and give me a hand with this ladder, it’s a real nuisance to take down the alley to the back.”
Colin came to the door with a tool of some kind in his hand.
“Sure, hang on.” He put the tool down and they both lifted the ladder to walk it down the alley by the side of the shop and up to Ash’s garage where it was stored. It was cumbersome, because it was an extendable ladder with three layers and lots of ways to trap your hand as you carried it.
“Can’t you get a new one Ash, this is old and the new ones are so much lighter?” Colin winced as a foot of the ladder hit him in the knuckles when they rounded the corner of the garage.
Ash grinned and nodded. “Just for you Colin.”

About the author

Elodie Parkes

I live in the United Kingdom and I work in an antiques shop as well as writing. I have two dogs that keep me fit with their need for walks. I love the countryside and the coast.
I write romance, contemporary, and erotic with a twist of mystery, suspense, or the paranormal, now and then. I like to make the story unusual in some way, by a quirk in the tale.

I’ve brought along my next release from Hot Ink Press today, The Winter Girl.

My books are all set in Britain and more specifically England. There are so many historic and incredibly pretty old places that I find myself inspired by. Often a story will start up as I pass through or stop over at a place when I am working. Lately I’ve been sent to buy and bring back items for the antiques emporium where I work. The Winter Girl is inspired by a place I stopped for lunch.

The country town is in the middle of a huge stone circle and surrounding ring ditch. A road runs right through and is quite busy, but in good weather, the place buzzes with tourists from all over the world. There is a main street with little shops and cafés. It’s not quite as big as the place I create for the setting of the book, but it’s gorgeously quaint and steeped in history. I found the characters of my book unfolding in my mind as I walked around the place, and especially my leading male character Starr Forrester. I would have loved to meet a real Starr Forrester there, but didn’t. I’m in love with him at the moment he’s so sexy, creative, clever, and naughty…

There was a new age shop there on the main street and it had rows of trays with many different semi-precious stones in them. There were little cards with the meaning and properties of each stone printed on there, which added to my inspiration. The book has a touch of magic, but is contemporary erotic romance.

Want to join Ty and Never on their journey and get ready for the arrival of book four?  Check out the blurb for "Tasting Never", book one, and find out why we all heart the f*ck out of Ty McCabe!

Tasting Never, a New Adult Novel Recommended for Ages 18 and UpNever say Never Trilogy: Book One: Tasting Never,  Book Two: Finding Never, and Book Three: Keeping Never, are available now!

"Never Ross wants to be loved.
It's that simple, but it's not that easy."

Never is a girl with a broken soul who doesn't date nice guys and can't seem to go to bed at night without crying herself to sleep.  She doesn't need any complications in her life, especially not when they're attached to a man that could be her emotional twin.
Ty McCabe can't stand Never the first time he meets her.  He's aware that the feeling's mutual and the two don't think they'll ever see each other again, but when fate takes a hand and puts them both in the wrong place at the wrong time, Ty and Never form a tentative friendship that opens the door on their dark sides and shows them what it's like to live in the light.
"Sometimes, the only way to go forward, is to take a few, careful steps back."

TASTING NEVER EXCERPT:
Ty's hot mouth is on my neck, and I find myself taking short, sharp, little breaths as I press my shaking hands to his chest.  If I sleep with him again, I'll be making the biggest mistake of my life.  He's the first real friend I've ever had, and I don't want to cheapen the feelings that are simmering between us.  We made that mistake once before, and we survived.  We've been through a lot since then, and I know that if I lose him now, I will never be whole again.  Ty is my other half, lover or no, and just being around him is enough for me.        “Ty,” I say, trying my best to sound stern.  Instead, my voice comes out like a butterfly, flutters against Ty's hair and swirls it gently against my lips.  I moan and find that my fingers are now curled in the fabric of his T-shirt.        “Never,” he says back to me, the word like fire against my skin.  In those two syllables, I hear how he feels about me.  He thinks he's in love.  Ty McCabe thinks he's in love with me.  He doesn't say it aloud, but I can tell.  Sex isn't the best way for me to show my feelings; I've abused it for far too long that it has somehow lost some of its meaning.  I try to tell Ty this, but I can't speak with his lips on my throat and his hand sliding across the nape of my neck.        I run my own hands down his chest and put them beneath his shirt, on the hard plane of his belly.  His muscles contract as I press my fingers into them, touching, feeling, absorbing the man, the complication, that is Ty McCabe.  All the while, my mind is racing in circles trying to talk me out of this.        “Kiss me,” Ty says and it's not a question, it's a request, albeit a gentle one.  His voice is softer than I've ever heard it.  His words are naked, stripped of all the bullshit that's happened to him, all of the horrible things that mirror my own life.  Ty and I are like twins, like two halves of the same whole.  They say that opposites attract, but Ty and I are very much the same and the attraction between us burns brighter than the sun.  “Kiss me,” he says again and I do.

Author Bio:
Want to know about me? Milly Taiden (aka April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. She grew up between New York, Florida and Massachusetts. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
She’s addicted to shopping for shoes, chocolate (but who isn’t?) and Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Mmm… Chocolate. Three last questions:

Kelly - What was your favorite book when you were a young child and do you think it influenced what you like to read an/or write today?
Milly - I loved all books as a kid. I just loved reading and writing. Everything I read influenced me. It's why I write romance with suspense, action, and a few other things lol
Kelly - I love characters with unusual and memorable names. Raine Bowe and Ryder Storm are great. How did you come up with those?
Milly - I loved the name Raine Bowe because I could just see it as this straight-laced woman having this totally wrong name for her but then it ends up suiting her. And Ryder Storm is exactly his name. Rough, Badass and sexy. They just came to me
Kelly - If you could have lunch with any author, who would you choose and why?
Milly - I would pick my best friend Mina Carter because she lives in the UK and I would love to see her!!! She's a fantastic person and a great writer so she inspires me daily.

Thank you for joining us today, Milly.
